The VEWH is working with Traditional Owners, DEECA and waterway manager and land manager partners on the DEECA policy document Water is Life: Traditional Owner Access to Water Roadmap implementation.
The VEWH’s commitment to Traditional Owner agency and self-determination is further reflected in the VEWH 10-year strategy priorities, and in the VEWH statement on how we will work with Traditional Owners.
The VEWH from 2023-25 worked with several Traditional Owner groups to conduct trials on Country to inform new Traditional Owner-led seasonal watering proposal guidelines.
The Traditional Owner-led seasonal watering proposal guidelines have been shared with Victorian Nations, and aim to help contribute to the Water is Life outcome to increase the role Traditional Owners have in determining how environmental water is used for the purpose of healing Country.
